Fractures and dislocations are the most common ortopedic procedures most people think about, and Riverside is equiped with plates screws and pins to manage most fractures. Probably the most frequent orthopedic condition we see is the ruptured cranial cruciate ligament (anterior cruciate in people) Common in larger breed dogs this injury requires asurgical repair. Whilst the repair itself does not require arthroscopy, we use our arthroscope to inspect the menisci within the knee joint for damage. Arthroscopy reduces post-surgical pain compared with traditional arthrotomy (opening the joint right up). It also speeds recovery post surgery. Other joint surgeries include, surgery for osteochondrosis, elbow dysplasia, and hip dysplasia.
